Our family business is proud to enter the world of online shopping. Not without it’s birthing pains, we have accepted the fact that the future belongs to the internet and that this baby is necessary for us and our loyal customer base. While the catalog may return in the future, for now we’ll experiment with this format, take advantage of all of the flexibility that it has to offer, and use it to offer new product and specials throughout the year in a way that is just not feasible with a catalog.

Al Wehmeier, at 82, is still at the helm of the shop on Toulouse Street in the French Quarter, joined by son, Keith, and me, Linda Waltman, one of three daughters, with my husband, Larry, and our daughter, Adrienne. I am the trouble maker that convinced Dad to open the second location at The Shops at Canal Place and to go online with what we hope will be a third storefront. Life has certainly been interesting and busy since Katrina.

I plan to use this blog to communicate with our customer base not only about our offerings, but to keep New Orleans’ fans up-to-date on the city as we see it, as only a family that lives in it and loves it can. Wehmeier’s will leave New Orleans when we have to float the belts and the handbags out on a raft, but not until the water parade is over.

Welcome to Wehmeier’s.
